If this is true, this would be a sad, sad day for Aussie RC hobbyists. The LHS here charge an arm and a leg for lipos... Heck! They charge for both arms and legs with mark ups up to 800%. I wonder which bureaucrat decided to classify Lipos as dangerous goods... Has anyone heard of a lipo causing fire/explosion on a commercial aircraft???

I've been expecting this for years, unfortunately...

Yeah but thats like saying "If the plane doesn't take off, it wont crash". So no more plane flights...

Maybe this is why my latest order from Hobby city is taking so terribly long. When I saw the message on their site that said "we now ship within 24 hours" I placed an order straight away that included 3 lipos back on the 18th of May and paid for EMS express to the US. on the 28th of may my order was still "in process" so got on the customer service chat and harped to someone there and that got the order picked and shipped with an EMS tracking # but even after 7 days there is no tracking information available under the number they gave me. I've had some good experiences at hobby king, and some bad - most of which has been along the lines of big delays in shipping. I think this latest delay might be caused by the postal system giving Hobby City/king a tough time, just wish they would explain to me what the issue is. I have half a mind to open a dispute though paypal.

I believe that if you do open a dispute through PP with HK they will then refuse to accept payment by PayPal for any future orders you might place.

I think you'll be stuck with waiting and hoping that your order will be returned and re-shipped using another carrier or through Singapore.

I've just heard from a contact on Mainland China that:

"Hongkong Post and China Post are completely separate entities. China Post has been refusing Lipos for a long time but they still accept parcels from selected "VIP customers which is why some suppliers can ship batteries via this channel. However, packages containing batteries may still be rejected (returned) if picked up during security inspections"

So it seems that orders from mainland China are more likely to get through than those shipped from Hongkong but there's still no guarantee.
