You kind of hope that they learn from mistakes in the first version and improve it.

Too true. I have an AXN - built to Bruce's spec. It flew beautifully. It had one crash too many when the receiver failed. Now it's waiting for serious surgery.
Then I saw the Bixler V2 launch and I succumbed. It has been on order for two weeks - held up by the ESC I want that is out of stock. Just hope I haven't bought a lemon.
I would not be surprised if I bought another AXN. It really is a fantastic all-rounder.

Well, the Bixler 2 is still sitting in the box. I decided to take on the newbie challenge of repairing the AXN. A new servo, hot melt glue, etc. The AXN is flying as good as new now. Should call it the Phoenix. These AXNs just keep rising from the ashes. I'll use the Bixler later for FPV when I have improved my flying further.

I'm in the same boat with a new Bixler 2 sitting here in its' box just waiting to be put together but I am waiting on an order from HK that has the servos, new 9x and Frsky receivers to arrive.

Did you go with the upgraded esc and motor or did you stick with the factory specs?

1 bought a 30A ESC to replace the 20A one recommended. I also bought the same 10g servos that that I bought for the AXN - the one that Bruce recommended (HK15178). (Having said that, I was disappointed that the AXN rudder servo died. It was protected in the cockpit and the rudder did not get impacted. I'll reconsider future servo purchases.) I left the motor as-is. If it dies I will replace it.

I decided to first try out the factory specs with a 20A ESC. Time will tell if it will do...

Did you opt for the flaps servo?

Yes - I want to go flaps. Never tried them before.

I lost another servo last Sunday. I was practising landings on the AXN and landed heavily, but not heavily enough to break the AXN. But the rudder servo died. This is the second rudder servo to fail. So two HK15178s have died. Fortunately I have spare which I bought for the Bixler. But I'm definitely going to look for alternative servos in future.
