These are spec'd to use a 850mAh 3S 20C LiPo and they work ok on this BUT ... if you want a better performance - then first is to up the C rating of the LiPo you use.

I have the T45 and I enlarged the battery area to take a 1800mAh 3S 25C pack and the performance was blistering !

I have also done some static thrust tests with my vertical rig to see difference of LiPo packs.

Pack 1 : 800 mAh 3S 20C = 255 grams thrust *
Pack 2 : 800 mAh 3S 20C = 255 grams thrust
Pack 3 : 1300 mAh 3S 25C = 335 grams thrust **
Pack 4 : 1300 mAh 3S 25C = 275 grams thrust ***
Pack 5 : 1800 mAh 3S 25C = 340 grams thrust ****
Pack 6 : 1800 mAh 3S 25C = 340 grams thrust

* balances model out of box.
** requires 20gr at tail
*** believed to be a low charged pack ...
**** requires 32 gr at tail

As can be seen from above - there is a marked difference between the C ratings ... and also when pack size is increased. Power lead size and internal resistance of packs I think is important. The 800 and 1300 packs are Turnigy blue packs and new. The 1800 packs are E-Fly ebay packs and about 3 months old.

Having also checked wattage needed for above ... I would suggest that upping to 800 - 1000mAh 4S 20C would work and give an increase of thrust with limiting amps and preventing ESC burnouts.

Doppler speed tests of videos shows on the 1800 25C pack to average 85 km/hr flat level WOT and over 90 km/hr in shallow dive. With the 4S in - we are expecting a jump of maybe 5 - 10 km/hr on top of that .... maybe even breaking the 100 km/hr barrier. The next modification once tests on 4S completed is to fit a 6 blade fan replacing the plain 5 blade affair. The shroud is fine and will remain at 50mm. There are 51mm EDF's with 7 blade fans, but that may overload the motor. We are trying to up performance with as much stock as possible.

For speed ... we would expect the F16 to be fastest out of box - as found by our Host Reviewer !

Hope above is helpful ...
