Hello,

I have a Multiplex Funcub plane. This has a wingspan of about 1.4meters, and has 4 servos in the wing.

To transport this in the car, i typically unfasten the wing, and twist it so it is parallel to the fuselage, all wires still attached. I still cannot fit it in the trunk of my car though.
I was thinking that i should devise some different way to do my servo leads, so I can easily attach and detach the wing easily. Anyone have any good experiences and ideas? I was thinking shortening all the leads to end at the same place, about 5-10 cm longer than "to the middle of the wing", color code them with shrink wrap, and add new leads from Rx up to the same place, also with color coding.

If a "multi servo" connector block exists, that might be something to look into as well..

Today its wired like this:
Aileron servos, extended mid wing, connected directly to the Rx
Flap Servos, original servo leads about 4 cm longer than "the middle of the wing", attached to a Y harness, then to the Rx.

I heard of some one using magnets to make the contacts... Don't know if it worked or not... Don't think I would trust it...

sounds cool, however i don't think I would trust them either..

I just use coloured heat shrink and short servo extensions on all the connectors.
I've only had three servo wings though.

I have seen people use them for power contacts on AA batteries when prototyping small circuits.

the simple method is using servo extension cords with either colour coding or 123 written on them

a much nicer but also much more work intensive method is using a multiplex or mpx connector:

which is actually a battery connector but can be used to route 6 connections (ie plus minus and 4 servo signal wires in your case) through a very safe connector
if you want to go all out you could even glue the connectors to the wing and the fuselage in such a way that they connect automagically when you screw the wings on

Ooo, that did look nice! Might be difficult in a foam model though. I forgot all about posibility to have common ground and plus, that does give a few more options. It might seem that just adapting the lead lengths and coding the connectors is the path most commonly used though, and i think i have everything necessary for that already.
