I'm hoping I can get my hands on a DX8 again to do some more comparisons between DSMX and DMSS when the JR radio arrives.

I'd also like to try both in the FPV bird to see what the comparative ranges of all the modern 2.4GHz systems is like.

Of course everyone *except* Spektrum is willing to help with a comparative shootout -- why is that?

Yes that is a shame Bruce, if you were in OZ I'd happily loan you my DX8 and Futaba 8FG.. From my very layman range tests they always come out about equal..

I think the important thing is that *all* the current crop of 2.4GHz RC gear provides far more range than you can use (FPV excepted).

And, if you're going to fly long-distance FPV it probably doesn't pay to rely solely on the stock transmitte/receiver/antenna setup anyway.

I doubt anyone really cares if Brand-X offers 3.5 times more range than you need and Brand-Y offers 3.75 times the needed range, do they?

Yes, I agree.. 1000 meters is more than I would ever need..

2.4Ghz gives 3 to 4 times that... a comforting thought... No FPV for me.. (I fly real planes for a living and that would be too much like work...)
