I see that Hobbyking is now selling the Turnigy 9X without a module, thereby killing the aerial wire issue in 1 fell swoop.$50.The "normal"9x is of course on backorder,so if you've been waiting for one,get in now.Stick a Frsky module in,and you're home 'n hosed. 8-)
No connection....blah blah blah.

I'd opt for the DIY rather than the module. The only time I've had a problem with the 9X radio was a few months back when (after nearly 3 years) the connections between the FrSky module and the pins in my radio became intermittent. SPLAT -- one dead SuperSports 40 -- augered in from about 60 feet at full throttle.

By doing the DIY you remove the reliance on two pieces of metal forming a problem-free electrical connection.

Besides which, it'll look a lot tidier with the antenna coming out the top of the radio -- replacing that plastic bung they've stuck there. The 2-way DIY also has a convenient switch you can mount on the radio itself -- rather than messing around with tiny DIP switches on the back of the module when changing from 1-way to 2-way or v/v.

I quite agree,Bruce,I prefer the diy module myself.I was merely pointing out that hk seems to have picked up on the fact that a lot of their turnigy's end up being converted to an alternative module.Ok,it saves only 3 or 4 bucks.but at least you can get a 9x.Anyway,with the "new"9x on the way, maybe they're just gettin' rid of the older model.
I bought 2 9x's last year,and I can't see myself needing any more.Then again......

I notice that too. That radio looks like an older version of the 9x. I bought 2 of the $59.00 myself. One for my son that is now modded to the er9x upgrade & the backlight kit - nice - . Mine I'm removing the stock board with the new ERSKY9x and the FrSky V8JT module. My DX6i now just used for the foamies. Now waiting on US customs to let my items through the post, hate the waiting!!

Keith - that's one review i'd SURE like to see Bruce do!!!! ... But maybe in another 2-3 months when Mike, Bertrand and others have had a little more time getting the extra software working. As it stands, it'll obviously do as good a job as the T9x with the ER9X (or Open9x) software (or perhaps do it as well, but just quicker), but its yet to really realise the extra capabilities that start to become available (like voice support or SD card support for example).

I'd certainly chip in with another "donation" if Bruce was to buy one of the boards and do a video series on the ERSKY9x!!!

25 people x $5 ... that should cover it. Anyone else up for that :-)
