Hi Bruce I thought you might be able to shed some light into why the Turnigy 9X V2 radio has not been certified by the MAAA in Australia? I spoke to one of the blokes who certifies the radios for the MAAA and he said that these radios failed because the receivers are "noisy". When you tested the 9X radio with the spectrum analyzer did you see this noise they are referring too. If there excessive noise what would be the outcome of this problem. The only time I have seen any issues with these receivers is when bench testing servos and use a lower than normal voltage battery pack(nearly flat), you get erratic movement and chatter in servos. I believe that the transmitter has been certified in other countries around the world.Thanks in advance.

The irony is I stopped using my old FUTABAs (one of which cost me $1500 15 years ago) and only use my Turnigy because it has better range and more reliability. So if I fly at an Aussie club, I need to use one of my Certified FM Futabas as opposed to my reliable Turnigy. That's just a joke if you ask me.

Let me put it this way, there is no way i would be trying this with my Certified Futaba radios lol

I thought they failed because they have no working range test on them and also no fail-safe in the receivers, ... Noisy never thought it was that ...... but that's my understanding of the rules for aussie anyhow, I am upgrading to Frsky as soon as it gets here in the post, i know they are certified in aussie

Convert it to FrSKY and you get both the failsafe and range test

It is my opinion the noise they are talking about was in the ear of the MAAA by a local radio supplier (Spectrum/Modelflight), he has caused problems for flyers all over Australia, when anyone on holiday finds even a cheap Spectrum radio overseas, MF through the MAAA made it almost impossible to get that radio approved back in OZ. The first HobbyKing shop front was Hstore here in Sydney, a supporter of Spectrum radio gear, as soon as Hstore was renamed and the store relabeled HobbyKing, Spectrum cut them off. Hstore was happy to keep on supporting Spectrum, but Spectrum would not support HobbyKing, that meant no more anything that Modelflight supplied, and they are a major supplier of aircraft, cars and boat kits. I think that's why Anthony opened the Adelaide HobbyKing only 3 Klicks from Modelflight to have a poke back at them. It's funny, I have the HobbyKing 6 channel 2.4gig radio, it's approved C tick and all using the same version 2 FHSS system as the 9X.
