Digital VS Analog servos

What I would like to get some feedback on is if Digital servos are really that much better than analog servos.
As with latency, do you need to be an expert 3D flyer to really notice the difference.
I know that digital servos provide better torque throughout the range while analog have their full torque only at the extremes, also digital have better resolution due to smaller pulse width. The disadvantage I have seen is that digitals have more current drain and are more expensive. Now that is all very well and good but will an average skilled flyer see any benefits from digitals.
I fly a heli and use analog hs65 servos and find them great. To be fair though I do have a digital on the tail. ( HS-5083MG servo )

Yes, digitals are better in almost all respects when compared to non-digital servos.

However, whether you'll notice the difference depends on your style of flying.

If you haven't read my article How RC Servos Work then I suggest you have a quick browse for some relevant info.

If you're just at the hovering/forward-flight stage then you may not notice too much difference with digital servos (except perhaps that the centering will be a little better so the hover may be more stable).

However, once you get into 3D or even more aggressive conventional flying then you'll find the benefits of digital servos really start to show with a more "solid" feel.

Not all servos are created equal however, and just because a servo is "digital" doesn't mean it's good.

Thanks for the reply. I have read your article ( very good I may add) and am aware of the advantages of digital servos and their basic operation.
Since I consider the analog servos I have to be of good quality ( Unless you know otherwise)
I was just wondering if I would really notice the difference with digital servos or if you had to be an extreme 3D flyer to get any benefits.
Sounds like your saying with an equivalent quality digital servo I will see the benefits when doing 3D.
You don't need to be an expert to notice the difference.

It's pretty subjective...

Some folks wouldn't notice of you took the servos out altogether :-)

Overall, I think digital servos would be a good investment unless you're still just learning to hover.
