IBQ101 frequency counter

Hi all,

I have a small 800 mw 1,2Ghz video TX I and I don't want to get into trouble because of it :D
So I looked for frequency scanners on ebay and Deal Extreme, now DX, and I found the same thing everywhere. From DX I bought this thing:

http://dx.com/p/professional-1-4-lcd-50 ... -aaa-41619

For 43 dollars I didn't expect it to be like Bruce's frequency scanner, but mine's either faulty or a frequency scanner is nothing like a frequency counter. Mine seems to hover around the strongest frequency it finds. I put it facing the Frsky DJT TX's patch antenna and it picks up signal from 1,3-1,4xxx Ghz but it doesn't go up to 2,4.
Is it possible that 2,4Ghz has harmonics there or this frequency counter is busted?

Szilard.

What do the buttons marked F1 F2 F3 do?
Maybe you have to select the range with them.

it's backlit. F1 turns the light on/off and a long press turns the device on/off.
F2 enters the menu
F3 is hold (it shows the reading that interests you)

I set the Gate to 1 second. There aren't many option in there. If I turn the filter option on, I don't even see it scanning, but as I turn on my 9x with the Frsky transmitter, it comes alive. From 866 MHZ 1428.6719 it shows various frequencies with different signal strengths @1428.6719 for example it shows a graph and says the signal strength is -23dbm. @1416.9394MHz the signal strength is -38dbm but it doesn't show a graph. Perhaps I should make a video of this :)

It does seem that it might be the counter at fault, misreading or picking up a harmonic, difficult to say can you return it? It's possible that the frequency hopping of the signal prevents it detecting the signal at 2.4 GHz.
