Turnigy 9xV2 questions

Postby av8nmac » Sat Jul 17, 2010 3:31 am

I have noticed something odd with the operation of my tx. I run out of servo travel before I run out of stick travel. Expo is off, dual rates 100% and end points set to 120%. Is this common to this Tx or am I missing something in the setup? With my Hitec using the same servos, both the tx and servos stop at the same point.

Thanks,

Paul

What you're experiencing is not uncommon and it's a dead-zone that is caused by incorrect calibration at the factory.

You can recalibrate your sticks to recover that lost movement -- there are links to the information needed on here somewhere. Perhaps I ought to put it on a webpage.

Anyone want a dedicated 9X area on the RCModelReviews website where I can keep all this information?

Definitely Bruce.

It seems there a a lot of people using these 9X transmitters (me being one of them).
The more information, the better.

I'd say it's be greatly appreciated by a lot of users.

Calibration instructions here:

I don't remember where I got this. It was in German, I translated it.
Don't ask for details, I don't own a transmitter.
Hope it helps.

I've just fixed a wee problem I've found with my Turnigy 9X. I was wondering why the aileron channel wouldn't centre properly each time. Go one way, it'll centre, go the other and it'll be slightly out. I opened her up and the board the pot is on was rocking with corresponding stick movements. A quick drop of glue saw the end to that problem.
I received it with a rattle too, which turned out to be one of the bolts which holds the antenna board to the unit. Haha, not ideal, but easy fix.

It seems the best thing to do with these things out of the box is crack it open and give it a good going over inside.
I'm also planning on installing a small switch of some variety, so I can turn that horrible speaker off for when I'm browsing the menus and doing programming.

As I've said a few times -- quality control is an issue with the 9X.

They're better than they were -- but I think QC simply consists of scooping up the parts after it falls off the end of the assembly line and shoveling them into the box :-)
