Aurora 9 doesn't fit older Hitec modules?

Postby kk310 » Tue Oct 12, 2010 10:31 pm

Stopped by my LHS today to look at the A9 and see if the FrSky module would fit.
It appears that the pins have been shifted off to the side to keep modules from plugging into the radio.

I was planning on using the Optima receivers for my larger models, but plugging the FrSky module into the radio for my parkflyers.

Has anyone else run into this?
Is there a workaround?

Bruce?

The Aurora actually has a bunch of extra pins, which is why the old-form Hitec/Futaba modules don't fit.

I seem to recall reading that someone did modify a Hitec/Futaba FrSky module so that it would fit and it did work - I think they simply cut away part of the module case so the extra A9 pins could pass through but wouldn't be connected to anything.

However, I would need to check that.

If that was an easy mod, it would sure open up a lot of affordable options to people that want a really good radio, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for receivers.

I would be very interested to hear how they did that.
