D8R Receivers are back in stock at HK, grab 'em while you can.

Thanks for the heads up Kozmyk. I managed to get one ordered from them today..

Now I will just need to wait and see if it's the D8R-II or the original one. I had heard that it may be the version II. The down side is this could get to be kind of ridiculous, if every time you buy one of there products it's a different hardware version. Change is good up to a point, but some consistency would be nice.

I ordered 2 pairs. I had a pair on BK and went for another 2 when they came into stock.
I got one D8R V2 and three D8R-II.
That's cool, as long as they work OK.
Off to check them now. ;)

I received one D8R-II as well...

Are you getting any false readings/alarms during initial power up? Ie: Low voltage alarms for a 30+ second or so until it stabilizes? Initial A1 voltage shows more then 2 volts low and then eventually comes up to normal. This only happens the first time when the unit has been powered off for more then about 10 minutes not after multiple power ups in a row.

The D8R(v2) works just fine with no problems so I'm trying to determine if this D8R-II is just bad or this is normal? I only have the one D8R-II.

Thanks, 7SP

Umm ... I'll take another look.
I just hooked em up to a servo to see that they bound OK.
Didn't look at the telemetry operation though no alarms were going.

At this point it appears there is no internal A1 in the D8R-II for monitoring the supply voltage like the D8R(v2) and the readings from the A1 port are bogus if it's not connected to an external sensor.

another thing I noticed was that if AD2 is floating it followed AD1 inputs.

Over in RCG It was suggested that unused inputs must be pulled down to ground to avoid this behavior.

Hi guys,

I have two D8R V2 receivers with the telemetry module, I've been using them for a year now and they work fine but I haven't used the telemetry yet.
These receivers are supposed to have built-in voltage sensors; in order to get voltage readings is it enough to connect the battery's balance plug to port A1?
Thx in advance.

Szilard.

Szilard,

Absolutley NOT! The A1/A2 ports have a maximum voltage that is well below that of a normal flight battery. Connecting your full battery voltage (assuming you're probably talking about a normal flight battery such as a 3S battery), across these pins will make the magic smoke come out!

You'll need the FrSKy battery voltage sensor (simple voltage divider) to bring the sensed battery voltage down into the usable range of the Telemetery port. You can build your own if you wish or spend the $$s to get the FrSky version.
