I don't have any details to go by regarding the Turnigy receiver dipole, or for that matter if it really is a dipole antenna, but I can say for sure that the diameters of dipoles affect the "bandwidth". Being that the Turnigy 2.4GHz system is frequency hopping spread spectrum... it would seem that it requires a fairly broad band receiver antenna and reducing it's diameter might have a negative effect. How much, I dunno..... That is something you would have to test under real world conditions. Personally, the small gain (reduction) in antenna size (~2mm) seems hardly worth the effort.
