Thank you for the reply. I really enjoy your RC Model Reviews website. Lots of very good info. I seem to have a hard time locating things like the Li-ion battery conversion.
I tried different searches and did not get anywhere. I have tried searching for your video and manual on the turnigy 9x with no successes.where on your site do I go to find things.
Thank you

A big re-organization is due soon, plus a master-index to all the articles, reviews and features.

Missing link in your site ??

That link ( http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/tendollarbattery.shtml ) looks like it belongs to the "How it works" section , but there is no way to browse to it from there , in fact not found any link within your site that points to it (except this forum) .
I think it is a very interesting article and deserves a more clear way to browse it directly from your site.
Or perhaps with my age Im getting more and more blind :D ......

Hi there,

Love your 8$ li-ion batery conversion, but maybe a tip:
You dont need to solder a 8.2K ohm resistor!

Just flash your th9x with the great erezra er9x firmware (i guess you will anyway do this eventually) and goto the general settings menu ([HOLDING LEFT BUTTON LONG] from the main screen).
Then goto the 'basic setup menu' and change the 'BAT Warning'. for example: change it to 6.0V (warning beep when voltage drops under 6.0V).

Cheers,
Raymond

@TG72: you'r welcome
See http://code.google.com/p/er9x/ (developer is also here in the forum ;-))

Soldering the interface is very easy if you have the turnigy 9x - VERSION 2. All the pads on the V2 are very easy to solder (V1 is a bit trickier).
Just follow these instructions: http://code.google.com/p/th9x/wiki/installation_de (its in german, but i think you will get the idea). Note: the picture you see is from a V1 board, On a V2 board the green cable goes to pad where the red circle is drawn.

BTW: i flashed my turnigy 9x -v2 with a cheap pocket avr programmer from sparkfun. see: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=9231

Yes, I'm doing a feature article on reflashing the 9X and the range of alternative software-systems available for it.

I'm thinking that the standard FlySky firmware will eventually become a thing of the past.

Many many thanks Raymond, for this wealth of information. I'm planning on doing the Li-ion battery conversion and following your instructions on changing the Bat Warning to 6.0V. Thanks again! :)
