Turnigy 9x Tx Battery Charger Polarity?

When using the supplied Turnigy 9x Tx 8 cell AA battery box what wall charger has the correct polarity?
Both Hitec and Spekrum original equipment wall wart chargers have the correct plug size, but have different polarity. :?:

It's the same as the Hitec -- the negative goes to the sleeve on the outside and positive is in the middle.

Thanks for the reply.
I tried my Hitec wall wart charger, but no joy.
Has anyone succeeded in charging through the charging port on this Tx?

There have been some reports of the wires from the charge port not being properly soldered. You could have a look inside and see if they're actually terminated properly.

I charge my 9x through this port with a Jr Charger that has had polarity reversed ( for the 9x, negative goes to the sleeve on the outside and positive is in the middle. This is opposite of the standard Jr Charger, so I cut the cord and switched polarity.).

Also note that a LOT of wall chargers put out 9.6V. For 8cell LSD NiMh batteries like Eneloops, you need one of the 10.6-11.6V chargers to give it a proper charge (mine top out at 11.1 volts, 1.39V per cell).

Further, a lot of wall chargers charge at 50mah. That means a 20-40 hour charge for batteries that are nearly depleted. My Jr charger puts out the right voltage, but only 50mah. That means that when I charge, it takes a day and a half. But since I use LSD batteries, I can charge any time and be assured that the charge will be there at a later time when I need it.

rdhood :My Hitec charger's charging light does not confirm a connection,& it does put out enough voltage to charge the 8 cell pack. :(

Thanks for the reply.

I charge my Eclipse 7's 8-cell NiMH pack with the standard Hitec wall-wart charger and it works just fine.

The wall-wart charger should put out more than 9.6V.

What's a "standard" Hitec charger?

Hitec CG=25A: Output Tx: 10.8V DC, 55mA
CGS-35: Output: TX, 9.6VDC 80mA

Both will charge an 8 cell pack. But if your cells will charge to 1.3-1.45V, one is better than the other.

Here are the results of my trouble shooting.
I traced the charger power through the system from the charging jack to the circuit board connection and there is power all the way with the charger connected, however the charger tell tale light shows there is no load (light out)). Evidently there is an open circuit, perhaps on the circuit board.

This is not a critical flaw, but it is particularly annoying because the battery box is tricky to install without pinching the wires. :x
I will have to come up with a work around for the battery box problem, suggestions will be considered. ;)

There you have it!
