frsky telemetry module jerkyness!!

hi
i recently brought a frsky telemetry module for futaba 9C
the module fit perfectly,bind was a piece of cake,
but servo action is really jerky, thoses moves cogwheel like ,as if there is really tiny pauses during travel.
any idea??
i use inolab 760MG servo( digital) but i also noticed it with a 3001 futaba....
i'm really disapoited about this module,as per reading bruce's review ,it was smoth as silk!!! maybe i missed something but here silk is not scratchy ... ;)

will try to make video ASAP.

answering my own question but adding a new one:p

according to frsky website there is a new rom release for this module and RX

New ROM Version (V2) for FrSky two way telemetry system is available!
September 10 , 2010

File names of V2:

For Modules (DFT/DJT/DHT): “V2_host_roma_build_100826.frk” and “V2_host_romb_build-100826.frk”
For Receiver (D8R): “V2_fdd_rx_build_100826.frk”


Method:

TX module uses the FrSky USB or Serial Cable for upgrade.
RX must have a RS232 converter installed between the RX module data pins and the PC comm. Port.


Superiority of V2:

1) Four different tones corresponding to four alarm sources;
2) Improve the smoothness of servos when working with D8R;
3) Provide two PPM modes: HS (9ms) and FS (18ms).


Caution:
Please note that in two-way mode, both modules and receivers need to be upgraded simultaneously. V1 and V2 are not compatible.
RX module must be put into BOOT LOADER PROGRAMMING MODE by linking CH7 to CH8 signal pins on the RX before power up.


Four different tones corresponding to four alarm sources:

Tones
Alarm Sources

2.3KHz
Low Power of Transmitter Module

2.44 KHz
AD1 of Receiver

2.58 KHz
AD2 of Receiver

2.87 KHz
RSSI of Receiver



Two PPM modes: HS Mode and FS Mode:

We would suggest to apply HS Mode only for digital/high-speed servos.
HS mode has 9mS PPM period (111Hz), FS mode has 18mS PPM period (55.6Hz).


How to switch between two PPM modes on the RX:

Turn the transmitter off, connect the battery to the receiver, press the F/S button of receiver for 6 seconds and then release it.
The red LED will flash fast in HS Mode and slow in FS Mode when the TX is not turned on.


BUT.....
how the hell could i upgrade RX without this "RS232 converter" , how to make one , where to plug it ???
if anybody have any idea please help, sure bruce have already the answer, as soon as he will wake up.

I've had the same problem. Go to this link viewtopic.php?f=44&t=378 It's not a non-trivial exercise. You also invalidate your warranty in doing this update. You're between a rock and a hard place. A no win situation - it's not fit for purpose as is and if you try(you could easily loose the magic smoke from the electronics) to update you loose your warranty!!

Also, have a read of this link viewtopic.php?f=44&t=228 I come in on page 9 third post down. As you can see I tested quite a few servos.

I'm halfway through making a "easy steps" video for this process.

I would think that FrSky dealers might want to offer this service for their customers so as to provide a point of distinction when compared to other cheap sources such as HobbyKing who'll never do this for you.

Units purchased overseas will incur postage and handling fees.

I am just in the process of getting the required equipment up and running and running a few test flashes first before I start with customers units. Hopefully in the next week or two we will be up at full speed.

Does this jerkiness, which some seem to find a big issue, only affect the 2-way system?

Some have reported a degree of this on the standard system but it appears to be quite dependent on the servos you're using.

None of my standard systems exhibit any degree of jerkiness and I'd really notice it because I tend to fly 3D with *big* control surfaces using +/- 50 degrees of throw.
