Turnigy 9X Tx with 3s LiPo

If the TH9X Tx is getting hot when using a 3s lipo, as some people have reported, then that would suggest that the standard regulator is linear not switching.
Would the TH9X Tx benefit from a switching regulator upgrade similar to the one made for the Spektrum DX7/DX6i ?

They also do a variable voltage o/p unit

Furthermore, I'm intending to fit the FrSky DHT module.
What operating voltage does the DHT module prefer?

Just found this here:

RCModelReviews wrote:Yes, that kind of mod could be done and making it to the module (which consumes most of the power) would be the first place to start (if there's room).

Some third-party modules (such as those from FrSky and FlyDream) not only outperform the FlyDream system but already have switching regulators in them.

Adding a switching regulator for the main logic board wouldn't save you much as this doesn't draw very much current anyway.

So that answers most of that question. ;)

I'm sure Bruce meant FlySky not FlyDream in the above quote.

I decided to go LiFePo in the end.

Less hassle all round.
The plug doesn't match the board but can be can be gently persuaded to go in, being careful to keep the -ve lead on the left. ;)
