FPV backpack

Hi Bruce, I'm just starting FPV because of your backpack video and Sony 600TVL review. So I don't yet know how useful I will find audio. I want to etch my own, so if it is something that I can just not solder on until I need it then great.

Have you found a reliable supplier yet (or even just a mediocre one, if they're cheap modules)? I would like to order the modules now so that they are here by the time you release the schematics

You'll have a number of options.

I'm documenting up the schematics, the PCB layout and the general step-by-step construction in a couple of videos and web-based article so you can source everything yourself and build it all on your own if you want to.

For those who aren't that keen on building the circuit-board, I'll organize for that to be available as an "off the shelf" item, all built up and tested -- in which case you'll be able to simply knock-up the framework, add a camera, UBEC and antenna.

Then, for those who just want to "fit and fly" I'll try to organize a "ready to go" version that will require nothing other than fitting to your model with a bit of velcro.

1. Bruce, I wonder if another thread would be worthwhile asking for how many peeps would commit to what type of 'kit' and how many they will anticipate buying. This thing may become bigger than Ben Hur... would be nice for you to get a ball park is my thinking.

2. Depending on your design, the level of integration and if any parts are hard to get, is one of your options etched PCB (drilled or not) /discrete components all ready for stroking up the soldering iron? If so that would be my preference.

I like all those options. Is there an ETA when you think options 2 or 3 will be ready? It's a nice afternoon here in Northern Ohio, and I'm dreaming of springtime and trying out FPV...

I'm working on that as fast as I can. I've ordered a bunch of components (enough to make 50 units) and have a tracking number for the consignment -- so all I can do is keep folks informed.

No news about the module ?
I believe that you need just an 5.8ghz module, an antenna and a linear power supply 12V->3.3V. Where did you get the module ? Is the one from Rangevideo ?
Why do you need a Ubec (5V)?

There are cheaper sources than RangeVideo for the modules and their regulator setup won't stop the ESC from producing nasty lines on your video picture either -- if you power the system from the same pack as the motor.

Last question, what will be the frequencies of the modules ? Is it the same as the HK, foxtech, glb ?
