FPV backpack

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Don't leave us hanging! When will this day or so be? I know hes been busy especially with the Turbine from HobbyKing, and I really do appreciate the work that has been done to produce these awesome videos but it feels like its been a decade since the backpack was announced. Would an ETA be possible or am i asking for too much?
In the mean time i will continue to bash my Axn and try to patiently wait.

Who knows how these antenna's have to be connected? From what I know there are 2 tracks in an antenna, the core and the outer wire. But on the transmitter I only see a single connection... Also for instance this picture from rangevideo.com shows a single connection:

Also what is the 50 Ohm indication in the datasheet, should the antenna have that resistance?

(And reading the warnings about powering these tx up without antenna I don't dare to give it any current)

sh4nce,
From the illustration it looks as though the outer from the coax is connected to the side of the board you can see, I would bet that the inner is connected to the other side of the board
Description:
This transmitter when paired with our 5.8Ghz receiver can reach 2 km range with standard 2dBi dipole antennas. A fantastic combo! Will not interfere with 2.GHz R/C systems and is legal to use all over the world (amateur frequency band).
To use this transmitter module requires a little bit of soldering. You must cut the coax or cable to correct length and solder it to the transmtter as the antenna. This is not plug and play but if you have basic soldering skills you can do it!

Save money by doing it yourself. Make your own antenna and powersupply. These cost <3 USD to make.

This 5.8Ghz 200mW module and the 5.8GHz dual output receiver = 55 USD total!

From what I understand from this they will tell you how to strip the wire to make the antennae.
However you would be better making an ibcrazy antennae.

Okay thanks for the update. The back has a shield (for heat dispension I think) that is connected to ground.

For the benefit of new members hallmark has already got an FPV Backpack supplied gratis from rcmodelreviews but he still finds it within his capacity to whinge when people have the audacity to mention IT'S TAKING RATHER A LONG TIME.
