Dual batteries with diodes fitted.What Diodes ?

Hi all . Can any electronic experts suggest what diode to use in a dual battery set up ? I have used battery backers but these are expensive and take up space . I thought it would be a lot cheaper and save space to fit a diode into each switch harness to stop current from flowing from one battery to the other in case of a Battery failure. Assuming I want a 5 amp supply , what diodes should I use ?

any 5 Amp power diode (rectifier) available close to you

a 5A bridge rectifier will do too, connect one positive to each of the AC inputs, connect RX to + output

Hi . I found some diodes as per the link you posted . Cost £2.29 GBP for 10 inc post. so they are on their way.

If you want to lose less voltage then a schottky diode would be better than a regular rectifier.
