FPV backpack PCB build

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Hi Pam,

CNCing a PCB sounds cool and you might as well go for it for the fun of it. I ended up simply soldering capacitors (as per module instructions), dip switch and antenna directly to the boards (see post No 1 on page 38). That is a piece of cake, lightweight and works great. In my humble opinion there is really no need for a pcb.

All the best

Hi suxi, I like your solution (I'm a fan of parsimony too). For my application a circuit board makes sense due to confinement problems & mounting simplicity. I take it that Bruce's original circuit diagrams have been confirmed by you & others? Are you using the 5.8G receiver module? Pam.

Yes, I m using the receiver modules as well. If you search this thread you'll find revised transmitter and receiver boards by Tim. He's got a pdf link in is footer.

The circuit works, components can be omitted or substituted and still get a working result, but this has been optimized to minimize interference.

a RX circuit has knocked together it's quite simple.
just needs a stable 5v in and an antenna. maybe a couple of 330 or 470 uF capacitors too.

If I were you Pam, I would follow TIMJC's Post about making the boards.

Here is a good one to read...http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=1888&start=160#p15279

He also has a complete parts list https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3706414/FPV/DIY%20FPV%20TX-RX.pdf (with some sources) and pretty much all you need to build them)
Or you could just buy completed units from hobbyking.

Anybody have any updates on their builds or changes to module modes or.......?

What exactly would you like to know? Besides the "exciting news" of not matching modules and the solution (see posts above) everyone should be happily fpving.

Best wishes

Hi Pam

Any Luke white CNCing the circuit board. I was thinking to do the same.

600TVL SONY SUPER HAD CCD D-WDR Board Camera w/ OSD DNR (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/600TVL-SONY-S ... 0542076742), &

5.8G 200mw Wireless AV Transmitter Module & 5.8G Video AV Receiver Set for FPV Sy (http://www.ebay.com/itm/251063961973?ss ... 1439.12649).

I noticed several people have succeeded on this forum & so I wondered if I could get a few details confirmed?

1) Are the circuit details (http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/fpvbackpack02.shtml) correct & complete?
2) Does anyone have a link to, or details of a receiver circuit?
3) Has anyone tried a stereo version?
4) I am going to CNC a double sided circuit board. Anyone else tried this?

Thanks, Pam.

Hello
In new to all of this but I really would like to give it a try.
I want to build one of Tim´s circuit boards and I have the possibility to cut it in CNC. I downloaded Eagle files but unfortunately they aren’t working. Can same one share a picture of the board whit the length and width? Ill have to draw it 1/1 in CAD to generate the Gcode if I want to machine it.
Thanks in advance and Ill share the DXF file when it’s done.

Hi Vasco, I’m also going to draw the geometry myself. I find pcbToGcode is too much of a compromise (though I’ve only used it a couple of times). I also prefer to divide the circuit into regions to minimize the amount of cutting. I’ll upload an example photo ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/100780492@N03/9590550234/ ) of a single sided WiFi router add on board I made to carry an smt SD card socket, serial IO level shifting IC‘s & sockets. If your interested I can give you a copy of my geometry(Cambam) and/or gcode (when I’ve made it :) ), Pam.
