Corona 2.4 DIY

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

The very first Corona version was FHSS so it didn't need to learn the frequencies that the transmitter was using -- they were all used. The DSSS system needs to hear the transmitter preamble before it will link up -- so if you turn on the transmitter first, the preamble is finished before the receiver starts listening.

So, with the current system you do need to power up the receiver first.

I have just been infomed my module is pulling 240mAh while the instructions are calling for 100 yes. Perhaps a defective unit.

That does sound fairly high but I've not measured the current draw of the Corona module so it's not totally out of the question.

How long does it take to pull 240 mAh?
Or do you mean 240 mA?

I sent the module back today. Hope they will accept it and send my new one in a timely fashion. I am not going to hold my breath. I now almost wish I had waited and sent it to the USA returns center if it ever opens.

Still no word on my returned part. They probably "lost" it.
