EFlite 72 MHZ Heli XMTR to 2.4GHZ

Hi All....
I have a friend that has one of the CP-PRO Eflite Helicopters with a 72MHZ transmitter. Has anyone here converted one of these transmitters to 2.4GHZ using the FrSky DIY kit. Does anyone know if they are using PPM or not???
I'm just trying to save myself some hacking time if someone's already tried this....
