As the last picture in the previous post shows I have two power cables exiting the pole. The plan is to use the second for an antenna tracking system in the future, but for now it will be insulated and used to block the hole.

Here is the entry point for the video and power cables just above where I plan putting the weighted shelf. I have not pushed the joiner all the way in as I need to file down the insert so that it fits snugly, but does not give me so much resistance when I want to separate the parts.

Here is another view where you can see the joiner sockets that will be secured to the upper section...

And finally the whole pole with the shelf on the base, which I'll mount (also to be easily removable) this weekend.

One question for the group: I am looking for a decent size battery to run the ground station and came across this:

http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SB2487

Please provide me with some input about what sort of run times I can expect compared to a 2200 3S.

I am looking at this because I don't want to carry a box of Lipos around in the car and these seem more stable etc. Also seems like (if I'm reading it correctly, I can get many hours of Rx and DVR recording from the battery.

Have you considered a LiFePo4 such as

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... ouse_.html

LiFe cells are 3.3v and LiPo are 3.7v so this back is 9.9v or are you looking for 12v.

If you were looking at a 2200maH 3s this should more than cope plus you should be able to charge from your standard 4 button charger and does not have the same unstabability risk as a LiPo.

Something to think about :D

Here is the FPV ground station almost ready for a field test... Comments are most welcome (in fact some are expected :P)...

This is the single Rx unit attached to the system, which comprises a 15" LCD 12v capable monitor, FatShark Dominator 3 goggles, Zippy 5800mAh battery (for now), Futaba 10CH Tx radio (with SBus 8 channel Rx), Circular_Wireless 5.8Ghz helical antenna and the DVR arrives tomorrow, it's a F700 from Bevrc. (I'll add a pic when it arrives.)

As you can see the entire unit can be assembled and dissembled with all wiring concealed inside the centre pole thus allowing faster set up and pull down time while protecting the cables etc from damage. The system can be stored in a 1.5m scuba bag inclusive of the aircraft and all accessories.

In the background there's a canopy I bought for when we go out bush/beach/mountains so we have shelter form all elements. More pics in next post... :D <-- happy camper

The second A/V out is for the DVR, which has an A/V out to go to the monitor... :geek: :geek: :ugeek:

My pre-installation testing. All looks great. I'll publish an entire thread about setting up the FY31-AP and Hornet OSD soon.

Much more coming very soon - the maiden is days away...
