Interference from FPV's

Postby Ralph.R » Mon Feb 28, 2011 8:03 pm

Hi

There seems to be a concern here in the U.k that people flying illegal 1000mw fpv's could bring down other aircraft by swamping the 2.4ghz band
any thoughts on this.
The LMA (Large model Association u,k) are particulary worried and have a thread on their forums on the subject as do

Is there cause for concern I wonder

You might want to point them at this article I wrote a while back:

JR/Spektrum DSM2 Weakness Revealed

In my opinion, FPV using 2.4GHz video gear is *not* a good idea because it can have an effect on other 2.4GHz RC fliers in the vicinity.

However, in the case of the frequency-hopping systems, it's more often a problem for the FPV flier than the others -- since an RC system that hops will put lines all over the 2.4GHz video signal.
