I'm new to RC and bought an AXN

Here's an area where you can ask any kind of question about RC models and find a whole lot of useful information to help you get started.

I'd say that a 2650mAH would be pushing things a bit -- the 2200mAH is perfect.

However, I've flown the AXN with a heap of junk hanging off it, mainly while testing FPV and telemetry systems, so it can handle the extra weight -- it's just a matter of whether it will tolerate the nose-heavy CG.

If you already have a 2650mAH 3S pack you can try it -- what's the worst that could happen? :-)

That's enough of that,you jokers.Mine hasn't flown yet!
I did test with my watt meter, and got this:
Amps 20.1
Watts 220.
This is with a 2200 3cell lipo,and 6x4 tgs prop.
I'm quite surprised by the amount of power that little motor is churning out.Hope it doesn't tear the tail off
My mate was so impressed by the AXN,he got me to order him one rightaway.
Only one (small) problem. My throttle cutout(er9x) is back to front,e.g.it's engaged with the switch in the "off"position.
I have no idea how I did that, and am still trying to figure out how to reverse it.It's so hard getting decent staff these days

Quarry44:

I checked mine with 30A ESC and 3S 2200 25C 5x5 prop and got 15A 207w.

Will do check with the MkIII that has 45A ESC and 6x4 prop when I am home from work (about 1030PM CST - Australia)

Sounds about right!

I was measuring 16.4 Amps at WOT with the stock 5x5 prop with stock motor and stock ESC (25A). Well within 80% tolerances.

So with the different prop size, you'd expect to see a difference in current draw. You're well within the 30A of the ESC you've installed.

Question for people who know about props! ... when ordering a replacement prop, is there a difference in prop style/shape given its setup as a pusher? ie do i explicitly have to order a pusher prop to work with the AXN?

PLDB64:

I believe there is a difference. When I ordered the 6x4s I had to specify pusher. Hope that helps.

Doesn't matter if you have a pusher or regular prop -- they both work the same.

thats will actually make radiative heat transfer much much worse as blank metal surfaces radiate almost no heat

But the convective transfer will increase significantly and that's probably the more effective path for excess heat -- given that the inside of the AXN is white so radiated heat will be reflected back to the black heatshrink.
