If i had have known lol ohh well least you save some money on the battery's
that screen i got is good for when you do get the telemetry stuff, and if you don't have the stuff in your p[lane the receiver still sends back a signal strength to it Might be worth looking into
though word of warning, it doesn't come with a Holder for it, you will have to source the holder from someplace else as Hobbyking don't stock it, I'm told Aloft do thoughhttp://www.alofthobbies.com/frsky-mounting-stand.html found here I still need to get one myself, lol

Yep - i got my mount from Aloft - but in all honesty, i think its just as easy to use a bit of velcro on the front of the 9x.

Hal - when you're ready to do the setup of the FLD-02, come back and let us know! ... it's not exactly what you'd call intuitive!!! There is a config tool that you can use that simplifies things, but even then you need to understand the principles of how it works. Not hard once someone has explained it to you!

I only use one sensor on my AXN - the battery voltage sensor (worth a whole $2.50!) ... it gives me the battery voltage in the plane as its flying (as well as the Tx/Rx signal strength which you get by default). So with the FLD-02 you can setup different alarms for all of these.

Let the fun begin! :)

Bill,

There is a software upgrade available for the FLD-02 which apparently came out about 2 weeks ago. I've not uploaded it yet, but apparently it adds in the ability to show data from the new FrSky current sensor. So perhaps they've also addressed your question in the other thread about data being held over when disconnecting etc.

It's now at v2.1.

Hi Peter,
you have to get the inappropriately named F**-1 2 or 3  programmer to do that, I'll order one and see what happens.

Thanks pldb64.

Looks like I am on a steep learning curve here and have omitted to realise and order a vital component of the telemetry system. I thought that the basic data would be available on the transmitter screen, but am beginning to realise that is true of some of the third party/open source replacement processor boards.

Never mind. I guess I should really learn to fly first before getting too hung up on the electronics side of things.

Yes Bill :-) ... i've got the FUC-3 ... would like to meet the person that thought that was a good product name!

Reminds me of the story about Price Waterhouse (accountant firm for those that don't know the name) ... went to open an office in HongKong and had a name put on the building they were occupying. The literal translation was "Expensive Toilet" ... it didn't last long!

Hi Hal,

You're right there! ... Don't worry about it too much at this stage. If you're learning to fly, you really don't need the additional telemetery that FrSky has on offer. One thing you do get out of the box (ie once you've installed the DHT into your 9x) is the RSSI warnings. So if you start to stray too far away or your RF setup is a little ordinary, you'll get the warning from the built in buzzer. This is really helpful and pretty much all you need.

So you haven't lost out on anything!

If you do want the Telemetry appearing on the Tx screen (rather than on the FLD-02), that can be done, but it requires some fairly fine skilled soldering onto the Tx board. Many people have done it successfully - but i've not been game to take this on as yet - i get all i need with the FLD-02 (i followed Bill's lead in that respect).

If you've got any doubts - let us know what you're wanting to achieve and what your bill of materials is so far. We'll be able to tell you if you're missing anything.

If you're a brand spanking newbie (never flown before), then my suggestion would be that you get yourself a decent simulator - i spent HOURSSSSS on that before i went out flying the first time. Lets you build the muscule memory that you really need for when you're flying the plane in various directions. Best money you'll ever spend.

You can get a USB connector that allows you to use the 9X with your favourite sim. Thats what i do (as do many others).

Hi Peter,
Where did you get your F*C 3 from Hobbyking only seem to have F*C 1?
On second thoughts perhaps since you have one of the F*****g things I'll wait until you have tried the upgrade and see whether or not it made any F*****g difference!
If you would be so kind as to let me know.
Rgds,
Bill
