Never mind. I guess I should really learn to fly first before getting too hung up on the electronics side of things.
Hi Hal,
You're right there! ... Don't worry about it too much at this stage. If you're learning to fly, you really don't need the additional telemetery that FrSky has on offer. One thing you do get out of the box (ie once you've installed the DHT into your 9x) is the RSSI warnings. So if you start to stray too far away or your RF setup is a little ordinary, you'll get the warning from the built in buzzer. This is really helpful and pretty much all you need.
So you haven't lost out on anything!
If you do want the Telemetry appearing on the Tx screen (rather than on the FLD-02), that can be done, but it requires some fairly fine skilled soldering onto the Tx board. Many people have done it successfully - but i've not been game to take this on as yet - i get all i need with the FLD-02 (i followed Bill's lead in that respect).
If you've got any doubts - let us know what you're wanting to achieve and what your bill of materials is so far. We'll be able to tell you if you're missing anything.
If you're a brand spanking newbie (never flown before), then my suggestion would be that you get yourself a decent simulator - i spent HOURSSSSS on that before i went out flying the first time. Lets you build the muscule memory that you really need for when you're flying the plane in various directions. Best money you'll ever spend.
You can get a USB connector that allows you to use the 9X with your favourite sim. Thats what i do (as do many others).
