What do i need?

Here's an area where you can ask any kind of question about RC models and find a whole lot of useful information to help you get started.

+1 on the soldering iron.

After years of using the little wand style fixed temp irons I had some spare cash at the time Jaycar had a 40w variable temperature soldering station on sale, I bit the bullet and bought it. Never looked back. :D

Another useful tool I have is the butane torch/soldering iron. Great for heat shrink tubing and occasional on the road soldering jobs. Not to mention handy in the kitchen for the final touch on creame brûlée.

I also picked up a hot glue gun a couple of days ago in anticipation of my AXN arriving. Was most happy to find that I needed exactly this to fix my nieces laptop power plug. This one was a socket held in by (broken) plastic posts, not soldered to a PCB as they usually are. A liberal amount of hot glue has it firmly in place and niece is studying again!
