AXN Build help

I'm hoping some people can give me some guidance on my AXN build issue. After watching Bruce's instructions and videos online, he convinced me to purchase and build the AXN Clouds Fly. After waiting about 2 months to have all the items delivered from Hobby King, I finally started the build.

I bought: AXN ARF with motor, Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 20C Lipo Pack (2 of them), HK-T6A receiver, Hobby King 30A ESC 3A UBEC, and other items that were recommended. The only difference was the receiver which I still think is compatible.

I soldered the XT60 connectors onto the batteries and the UBEC... red with red, black with black. I'm pretty sure the soldering is good. Connections are tight. On the other end of the UBEC, I soldered the red with red, blue with blue, black with black to the plane/motor. When I connect either balanced battery with the UBEC and receiver, the power up tone does not turn on. The receiver is connected to channel 3. I just can't test out my motor and receiver. I know there is power because the receiver light goes on. I believe it is something wrong with either the UBEC or the motor. Can someone shed some light on this? What am I doing wrong? What do I need to change to fix this?

Thanks!

When you say ubec,do you mean the esc?If you can take a picture,it might be easier to see if you have the right connections.
If you are using a separate ubec, have you removed the red wire from the esc connector to the receiver?

I'll post up some pictures. A picture is worth 1000 words. Thanks.

BTW. I meant the ESC as the UBEC.

Establish if your TX/RX is compatible -

HK-T6A - "Compatible only with HobbyKing T4A & T6A Version 2 transmitters" but apparently they work with the 9x, the black/brown wires (ESC & servos) should be orientated to the right looking at the receiver label.

I would not recommend soldering the ESC to the motor until you have confirmed you have TX/RX working. Easiest is to connect a servo first and establish you have Tx control.
Polarity for battery to ESC and ESC to Channel 3 on your receiver is important, ESC to motor is not.
I use bullet connectors for motor to ESC incase one or the other need replacing (have been through 2 of each due to pilot error  ) the colour coding for ESC to motor is not always reliable some ESCs have 3 black to the motor. The bullet connectors help in this respect to establish correct operation and direction. You will not damage the motor by "incorrect polarity" it will work or not work, just a matter of trial and error. If the motor does spin in the wrong direction you can reverse the channel or swap any 2 ESC to motor wires until it does.

Thanks for the guidance so far...

I have attached a few pictures of my setup. When I try to test if the servo is working, the servo makes a quick jerk motion when it connects. However, there is no initiating sound. I assume if I can't initiate it, I can't bind it to the TX. It is the 9x ver 2. And thus I can't test the servos. The other pictures show the battery connection setup, the ESC to the motor, and the ESC to the receiver.

Thanks.

lk,your connections look ok.(although i would put some tape around the bare soldered joints before testing). Also try to "straighten" your joints a bit if you can before adding the heat shrink. It avoids unpleasant surprises later on :o
That only leaves the tx/rx.Have you tried the 9x with the standard rx?This uses a jumper, which has to be connected to the rx to bind to the tx.
So does the HK 6 ch you have.
The binding instructions for the HK rx are here:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... 014X20.pdf
Other than that I'm stumped.

+1 with quarry44.
Did you get an original Rx with the Tx and it's in another model, and it works :?: swap the HK6 for the one in the working model, if no joy it's a good indication that the HK6 is not bound.
You would have received a bind plug with the HK6 follow the bind procedure and see how you go in your working model.
Sorry if this seems like a dumb statement but never have more than 1 Rx powered up that is bound to the same Tx.

Thanks guys. It probably seems to be a faulty RX. Or maybe the bind procedure/linkage on the TX is faulty. Either way, it seems to work with the stock RX that came with the TX.

Also, I was going to smooth down the solder joints on the blue and red lines after I figured out why there was no connection.

Thanks again for your input and help :D
