Hello,

I want to buy the accucel 6 to charge a lot of 7ah lead acid batteries i own, but when i read the manual: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... 282%29.pdf
is says the max voltage is 2.46v per cell, isnt that way to high?
Wont it destroy my batteries?

In the manual page 15 for lead acid charging it tells you to enter the nominal battery charge voltage and from the
indicated maximum charge voltage its using a conservative end point of about 2.1 volts per cell

"Set up the charge current on the left and the
nominal voltage of the battery on the right. The
charge current ranges from 0.1 to 5.0A and the voltage should be matched with the battery
being charged."

It does not imply it will charge to 2.46.

but on page 5 of the manual it says max cell voltage 2.46v what does that mean then?

It looks as though you can charge to 2.46 volts per cell but you shouldn't!
Presumably if you set the nominal voltage of the cells higher in the set-up it will overcharge the cells.
Otherwise the people who designed the charger don't know what they are doing.

I have an Accucel 6 charger and use it for Pb batteries - in fact I use it in preference to an older Hyperion charger for PB batts. I find that on the 6v Pb battery the Accucel is charging to (IIRC) 7.35v which is right in the middle of the voltage range specified on the battery itself (7.2 - 7.5v, again IIRC).

If you check a 12volt pb battery just off the charger,you will find 14.4-14.6 volt.I assume the manual means the charger can charge a pb battery that high,e.g. completely full.

a "twelve volt" battery can be charged to 14.6 Volts, it is six cells, 14.6 / 6 = 2.4333 Volts per cell

why does everyone worry about hundredths of a Volt on uncalibrated equipment?
