AXN magnets

Here's an area where you can ask any kind of question about RC models and find a whole lot of useful information to help you get started.

AXN magnets

Postby wesselspeed » Thu Feb 14, 2013 7:03 pm

After i reglued my motor on my axn (well with not enough glue) it came of half (phew) but one of the magnets came out.
With the magnet sticking out half, the engine shocks a bit it wont run on a constant rpm anymore, would regluing the magnet in fix this?
And how should the magnet go in (one way it will go in pretty hard and the other way around it goes is immediatelly)
And what would be the best glue for regluing the magnets into the motor again?

Thanks for helping me

The magnets should alternate in their orientation if you look at the ends of the magnets they should have some kind of identifying mark, ensure that the magnet is replaced in such a way that the end is different to the two that surround it.
Magnets orient themselves north to south so the easy way in, is the right way, as similar poles repel each other.

And what would be good superglue for gluing in the magnets, from hobbyking if possible?

Do i really need the accelerator?
And today i tried remove the housing of the axn motor but i cant get it apart.
So how can i screw the motor of its plastic motor mount?

There are 2 grub screws between the motor and the mount, undo and remove motor. At the rear of the motor shaft is a small circlip, be very carefull and remove the clip. I used needle point tweezers, once the circlip is removed pull on the rear shaft of the motor whilst holding the motor "can", you will experience some resistance because of the magnets.
Make sure the circlip is seated correctly when you have finished.

I have never had any magnets come loose so have never needed to stick any back, but if I did I think I would use epoxy. I have made a couple wind turbines out of ceiling fans and always used epoxy there. Of course these are much bigger than an engine and have a curvature gap to fill. There will still be a gap on a small engine that thick CA would probably fill. You have more time with epoxy to make sure everything lines up correct. As I said I have never stuck magnets in a small motor so it is just a gut feeling....
