Getting started in rc, twinstar a good choice?

Postby femer » Sat Jul 17, 2010 10:23 am

Hello everyone!

My name is Daniel and I've had a long time interest in rc modeling, but done nothing more than driving a couple of buggys. Lately I've been flying helis and airplanes in sims a lot and thought to make something real of it. I've also become interested in fpv and would love to be able to use any future models for this.

I've been looking around for a good model to start and grow with and I've been recommended the easystar but do not like the idea not to have ailerons. So I was thinking maybe the twinstar would be good to learn on and modify to fpv later? It would be great if some of you guys, or gals, could confirm this. Thus, I recon the first that is going to be recommended if I buy the TS is to go brushless and so any help here would be much appreciated, being a newbie on BL setups and such.

I think I've found what I need here:
30A Esc

Motor 1800kv
2x http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?app=goods&spec_id=151
Battery 3s lipo

Props 8x4 also from rctimer

Any comments are most welcome.
To control it I've already picked up a 7c 35mhz, however I cant decide wether or not to convert it to 2.4 with Frsky, I want range to be long but also security from interference..

Many thanks in advance,
Daniel
