Hello Bruce

First off, great website and Youtube channel. I am a newbie to RC planes and am glad to have found somewhere where I can get good advice and an honest opinion.

Might I suggest changing your website hosting company to something else apart from Lowest Hosting? I noticed a comment on your Youtube channel regarding connectivity issues to your website from other users in different countries. Until I saw that I thought I had a problem with my home broadband connection as I can never get onto your website when I am at home, however when I am at work (ha ha) I don't have a problem at all.

For some reason I don't think Lowest Hosting is fully redistributing their registered domain names throughout the internet that is why some people in different countries and on different ISP's cannot connect to your website. Which is a shame.

Keep up the good work and look forward to your next review!!

Yes, LowestHosting relocated the RCModelReviews.com site to a new server just before the connectivity issues began.

Their support says "nothing to do with us" and the fact that it works fine from one ISP but not from anther (ie: some folk can access it from work but not from home and v/v) does kind of indicate that it's an issue specific to the way various ISPs have set up their networks.

Whether it's outdated entries in a bogan filter or what -- I'm not sure.

The problem is that LowestHosting do offer a really good deal (I have half a dozen sites hosted with them and this is the only one that seems to be giving problems) and RCModelReviews really is a shoe-string budget operation which comes (mostly) out of my own pocket, plus a few kind donations from visitors. That means it'll have to remain "budget hosted" for a while yet.

Yea, scratch build, tips, plan, info ........

I came across this website quite by accident and, having returned to R/c modelling after a long hiatus, found it the most honest and informative site on the web. There have been many advances in the hobby over the last few years, 2.4Ghz R/c sets, practical electrics for powered flight, li-po batteries and others. Your reviews have greatly improved my knowledge in these areas. Congratulations and keep up the good work.

You will find that the search feature provided on a lot of these sites is rather under-powered. I suggest you use a Google "Site" search, basically you specify your search string and the website in the following format in a Google search box and all the answers are given unto you - The google has spoken...!
Search Format: search string site:rcmodelreviews.com
Hope this helps...

Also, Bruce, I don't see any topic headers on the main index part of the forum that relate specifically to radio transmitters etc... Just a thought...!

Roger

PS, if you ever plan to start on the "build your own 2.4Ghz transmitter" thread again, as you know I have an old JR transitter sitting around here that is in need of some new brains to make it work again.... :D

Funny you should say that -- I'm mulling over making a logic board that would include model-select for those 2.4GHz module systems that have a 2-way capability. It would also allow me to build much of the telemetry function into the radio itself rather than as an add-on module.

The only problem is the lack of time :-(

Another thought I had, you seem to know about most of the links to different web-based suppliers, do you have a master link list anywhere. I have tried to compile my own, but it is by no means complete... https://sites.google.com/site/nzrcaerom ... directory/
