True! But they're quite pricy...

Nice review!
1Km range on the ground is pretty darn far, that should probably go like 3Km at 200 - 300m altitude... :)

The FrSky has been tested (by others) at ranges of up to 5Kms without any problems.

Hello,

Will the FrSky system be compatible with Turnigy V2 9X?

Thanks!

If you cut the cable that ties the original module to the transmitter and remove the built-in antenna then you can simply plug in a standard FrSky module as before and use FrSky receivers.

What I'll be working on is a project that allows you to use the built-in antenna with your FrSky system.

Thanks for the reply...

What I'm really trying to find out is,..that among all the variations of this radio, is there one that requires mininum or no hacking (for NOOBs like me  ) to be used with good quality products like Frsky, Assan or equivalent.

Cheers!

The V1 is a simple module-swap. Pull out the FlySky module, plug in the FrSky/Assan/whatever module of your choice.

The Turnigy V2 radio has slightly modified software to address some bugs in the standard FlySky V1 system though -- so it's probably better to go with the V2 (which is generally cheaper with the Turnigy branding) and follow the instructions I'll be publishing in a week or two.

Hi again,

I will go with your suggestion with the Turnigy V2 and hope that I will be able to follow and successfully implement the modifications in your future instructions...

In your review you wrote:

"Despite its FHSS technology and feature-set, this radio (with the standard module/receiver) is not recommended for large or fast models however. The lack of failsafe sees to that. "

Coudn't you just use a GWS fail safe?
