Since it works in 8 channel mode, does this mean it is 2048 resolution (given the right transmitter) in that mode?

FrSky are claiming a 3072 resolution for the receiver itself so I'm picking that it will be 1024 in 7-channel mode, 2048 in 8-channel mode - but haven't actually tested that aspect yet.

Not having a Futaba FASST transmitter of my own slows things down a bit -- I had to borrow a 10C to do the initial tests.

I think the first deliveries are scheduled for early September. HobbyKing has them on pre-order now (under the "Orange" brand). Price varies depending on whether you're a platinum member or not but it's no more than $40.

Aren't you confused with Spektrum clone? Orange brand is Spektrum clone. Nowhere is Futaba clone receiver found on HK catalog. Can you show me website catalog page?

Hi Bruce,

Thanks. I overlooked page 2.

Oh, boy. 1800 are on backorder at Hobby King. FrSky hit a bonanza.

FrSky tells me that the first batch will be in a small quantity. They also told me that both HiModel and Hobby King will carry it.

$30 is not cheap although it is 1/3 of original Futaba.

The TFR8 is an 8-channel receiver, Futaba's 8-channel receivers are $140 at Tower Hobbies.

Futaba's 7-channel receivers are $90.

Not that it matters too much I guess -- but still, a 67% saving is nothing to sneeze at :o

Hello Bruce.

You tested with a R6008FS, but the new R6008HS has a high speed, digital only mode.

Do you know if the "Orange FASST" Rx has this ability?

I have the Futaba 6EX and 7C transmitters but now I consider purchasing the Futaba 8 channel Tx.

So my second quesion: 2048 resolution: Is this a noticeable improvement and does it influence range?

Thanks from Norway!

I'm hoping to get my hands on a Futaba 8FG (for reviewing) and at that stage I'll test the other modes of the receiver.

Now if I can just talk Futaba into lending me a radio for review (alongside the Hitec A9 I have here) :?

Where is the 3rd poster in this thread getting their disinformation?

The only possible problem that I see is the range is 1/4 of genuine Futaba full range receivers so it depends on what you fly
