I got mine today from HiModel.

Instruction manual contains unfamiliar words.

"red LED will flash fast in HS mode and slow in FS Mode."

What is HS and FS Mode?

Futaba FASST works in two modes:

The 7-channel (standard latency) mode (FS) and the 8+ channel (low-latency) mode (HS).

The light will reflect the framerate being used by the transmitter you're using.

Thanks. I have 7 channel TM7 Futaba module. I assume mine operates on FS mode.

yes, the TM7 is FS and the TM8 is FS or HS (I believe).

These modes are otherwise known as the 7-channel and 8-channel modes.

The receiver was bench-tested. It bound easily with Futaba TM7 module.

It will be flight tested as soon as the heat wave is over. In Los Angeles, we were hit with heat wave with record breaking 116F degree. It is said to last a week.

humm, so if you have a 72mhz futuba 8U transmitter, put in the 8 channel FASST compatible system, you'll automatically get the lower latency, faster throuput system?

No, the latency will be the same (or slightly higher) since it is primarily determined by the rate at which the transmitter itself creates the control pulses that are passed on to the RF module.

HS mode is for Digital servo's, do not operate analogue servo's in HS mode or you risk damaging them.

This was introduced to fix the jitter some times experienced on the Digital servo's.

There is this warning :
"Warning: HS Mode is only applied for high-speed digital servos. Other servos should select FS Mode, otherwise servos will get heat or even burn out."

There is also some confusion around the naming of the rx's. As far as I am aware there are only TFR8's just checked the latest pricelist and indeed there are no TFR7's.

There is supposedly a difference between the HK (orange branded) ones that they can only do FS mode and not HS mode. This may have changed since my last chat with FrSky however.

I will give them a shout tonight when I get home and try get some clarity on this.

I have just bought 10 of these receivers however 5 of them have much shorter antenn's than the rest they are about 25mm shorter and the wires are not stripped at the ends ,its as though someone has chopped 25mm off the ends with a pair of scissors,
I emailed them and they said " I have checked with our engineer. The variable length of antennas is for RF matching with PCB. So it is normal that manufacturer produce difference length of antennas. You can test the receiver, and let us know if there is any other problem with this product."

Surely this cant be right :?
