Hello, I have just registered. I agree to the review about the htx900. I use these servos in a hk-450 helicopter and they work well. But about fiability, last sunday one of the cyclic servo just suddenly died. I was lucky that it was in stationary flight at low height and I landed safely. But opening the servo I don't see any clue why it died.

You have to remember that everything breaks eventually -- and that the HXT900, for all its merits, is only a $3 servo

Still, they're brilliant value and I usually add a few to each order to bring my packages up to the weight limit for whatever shipping I'm using.

I even bought some replacement gears the other day -- is that silly or what?

I was initially thinking about using the HXT900 in my FPV rig but am thinking of instead going with Hitec HS-65HB. Don't want to risk my FPV investments with cheap servos.

Surprisingly, I'm using the HXT900s in my HK EPP FPV model -- except on elevator where I'm using the metal-geared version.

So far -- no problems. I wanted to build the model "as per HK specification" for the review. I may replace all the servos with metal-geared versions soon though.

^ Why metal gear? Why not nylon or karbonite ones?

Won't metal gear servos cause issues with 5.8GHz video transmission, especially when they com in between the Vtx and Vrx when the plane is turning around??

On that note, can you please compare the advantages and disadvantages of such high frequency video transmitter being installed inside the wingtip vs fuselage/boom vs nose, especially considering signal dropouts when going away, turning and then coming back?

Metal geared servos shouldn't affect the 5.8GHz signal to any noticeable extent.

I heard a rumor the 900s have been changed, and not for the better. Could we look into this?

I have half a dozen due to arrive next week -- I also have some of the originals (with the short lead). I'll compare them.
