FPV DVR's

Postby fpsazerbaijan » Fri Jan 27, 2012 8:47 pm

Hi everyone!
I saw Bruce's video review of the new HobbyKing 5.8Ghz fpv DVR and it looks great! But just how good is the antenna? I mean it it worth it paying the extra $40 (including price difference and shipping to UK) for the 'wireless' feature, compared to this DVR @ $80 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Mini-Portable-MPEG-4-DVR-Ks-650-Digital-Video-Recorder-/180682165697?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item2a117f0dc1#ht_5257wt_1185

Thanks for your help :D

P.S A little FPV Flight I recorded earlier today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMoFBO6- ... e=youtu.be

Thanks!

You shouldn't just worry about the integrated antenna/receiver but this like:
- recording resolution
- bitrate
- format
- crashes

Ofcourse the overall quality and usability of a product designed specifically for FPV is much better!

I ended up buying 3 DVR's before I finally bought the JapanDVR and I find it AMAZING. It records at full PAL/NTSC instead of 640x480 at a bitrate as high as your sd-card will allow!

Hi guys,

I'm looking for the best DVR for the buck.
I had this and I don't know if it's any good:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... r_FPV.html

I have skyzone 5.8ghz 8 and 32ch receivers. these have reverse polarity protection, but the polarity is reversed! You have to solder the red wire to the minus and the white to the plus on the XT60. I wanted to power the dvr and the receiver off of a lipo. I soldered an XT 60 to RX's power cable and it worked. Then I decided the solder the power cable of this dvr to the XT 60 as well weeks later.
By then I forgot all about the reversing. I soldered red to red white to white. When I plugged it in the magic smoke came out of the DVR.

Now I'm looking for a good but cheap DVR. Now I know how I should hook this up, but I don't know if this is a good dvr or not since I never tried it, and I'd like to ask you guys what's the best DVR that works for you?
