7.4v Li-ion

Postby cynr100 » Tue Feb 21, 2012 3:20 am

Originally put this in the wrong forum sorry Mod!!

I am waiting for my TX to arrive and was going to prepare Bruce's $8 Lithium until I discovered I had a 7.4v (2 cell) 1300mha Li-Ion from one of those el cheapo Xmas helis. Will this work or is there a danger of something going wrong. This battery has held a full charge for the past 3 weeks.

This is what I am waiting on, bought for $38.99 + freight, notice that the price has gone up. It's due to be dispatched in 1 week so I am informed

Reading further 1300mah is not going to cut the mustard.

1300Mah is more than enough for a transmitter. What makes you think it's not going to be enough?
The tx you linked to is the same as the Imax/Turnigy 8-9 channel tx.Therefore i see no problem in the conversion Bruce detailed in his video.
Having said that, are you sure the battery is Li-ion,and not Li-poly?Personally,I wouldn't want a Li-Poly in a tx.

Bruces' build is for 2 x 2400mah, he has also recommended uping this to 3000 per cell (correct me if I am wrong).
The pack I have totals 1300mah, definitely Li-ion, am also not to kean on Li-po for the Tx. I will still keep this in mind and perhaps trial it for longevity.

Mute point until the new beast arrives, am going to wait until it does before I spend any more.

Appreciate the input, I don't feel as big a dill if there are replies, big thanks.

You realize that is an old model with the odd-on module...?

Although you may get the later model with just the one antenna...

Hope you ordered it a while ago as the waiting time is -131 orders ATM...

Was concerned about that, I'll take this as a gamble (the price is right). Have seen the orders go from -117 to -152 since I placed the order 3 weeks ago.

For many years the biggest, most power hungry transmitters, Futaba 9z, ran on 1100mAh NiCd cells. No mustard.

Thanks Egocentric.
Not allowed to play anymore, she who must be obeyed has barred me from this hobby until my arm heals. Disasterous hanger crash with my 450 heli resulting in a pile of bits, a 000 call and 12 stitches. Had installed a new ESC and gyro, was checking my control setpoints luckily with main rotors removed, believe I was adjusting gyro gain when the heli went to full power. Will investigate when the dust as settled, but don't fancy my chances wwith helis anymore.
Carelessness and overconfidence is a dangerous thing.

Have cancelled my order with Leaderhobby, they could not give me an estimate date. Not allowed to play anyway, see previous post.
I'll order a Turnigy from HK, my body should be healed by then and ready for the AXN
