You should keep the length of cable between the antenna and the receiver as short as possible because at 5.8GHz, much signal can be lost in anything other than a short length.
My SP and CL antennas connect to my receivers through no more than 75mm of coaxial cable -- just enough to give them at least wavelength of clearance. I then run my power and AV wires down my pole because these can be much longer before any issues are created.
