Permanent Farewell at RCGROUPS!

Chew the fat on any non-RC subject. It's a free-for-all but common rules of decency do apply so act like adults and don't embarrass yourself by trolling or cuss'n.

hehe, couldn't resist

I have a fairly low opinion of Americans (google Rick Mercer "talking to Americans") to the point where I no longer go in to the states because I cannot be bothered to renew my passport (Canadians now require passports where a drivers license once sufficed).

Sadly I cannot let go RCG in spite of the pissing wars as there are loads of useful information there, so I'll keep my mouth shut concerning my anti-American ways.

My favourite are the plans with the copyright notice intact.

I can definitely sympathize with Carlos. I have seen first hand the deterrioration that has taken place at RCGroups and the underhanded moderation that favours the shills and the sponsors in a way that has to be seen to be believed. This site is one of a handfull where you can discuss the quality or lack of for any RC systems, components or suppliers without getting head slapped. There is a new forum RCtruth, com that is another place wher you can tell it like it is.
Sorry to hear about the trouble Guappoman but I really do understand.

Too bad that guapoman appears not to visit here any more I've really enjoyed his post, especially when I was learning to fly on my HZ Supercub.
Does anyone know where he is at now? Hope not RCG

I've never had problems at RC Groups but HobbyKing forum would beat them hands down. The would be miniGods or Moderators are the worst I've encountered. I was banned with no warning, well they do warn you via private message but because you've already been banned you can't read it. I wasn't told I was banned and it's impossible to find out why because you can't log on. Luckily a friend found out for me. I allegedly referred to HobbyKing's staff as Ch_nks. Firstly I never did any such thing, secondly the word is not in my vocabulary, thirdly I am not racist and don't use such terms and finally all traces of my posts have magically vanished. It seems HobbyKing allow these very poor excuses for moderators to rule as they wish.

Strangely, all forums are out of bounds should you be banned from the chat forum. I can't question Hobbyking on any matter. I have no access to the Buddy system, I can't use the classified section and the most pathetic of all, every popular forum is 100% out of bounds whilst the less popular forums are open for me to read. Sort of selective banning. All this because I complained about the manner of a frootloop who believes himself to be a reincarnation of a certain highly unsavoury murderer who ran a certain country and passed away last year. His son now rules in his place. I found his actions and habit of referring to his "followers" very distasteful. Obviously his "followers" were the so called moderators.

So here I am, a respected member of many forums and the only problem I've ever had has been with HobbyKing. A company I average spending $600.00 a month with and I'm stopped by a bunch of 2nd rate caretakers from enjoying a forum under false pretences and no way to appeal the decision. At least the grey matter is in abundance in this forum. Oh! one other thing, have you ever received a Private message from a moderator asking you for 3 names of members you don't like. Because the moderator was bored and wanted to ban a few people to liven things up a bit. Great forum that ....... NOT!

I grew up in a communist/socialist country and do understand the mentality that prevails there eg. guilty till proven Innocent, conviction without proof etc. that's how they operate. I would not let it get under my skin. I think you will like this forum, it's not as active but everything is more relaxed and attitude is friendly.

Thanks Chris, you sound like a level headed bloke who's seen it worse than myself. I'd imagine things are tougher than being booted off a forum. Now you live in Calgary. What a ripper of a place. I was there in 1979 for the Calgary Stampede. I met many fellow Hams there and had a great time among a lot of very friendly people. I'll never forget taking an early morning walk with a few Hams and just over the hill in front of us rose about 50 hot air ballons. What a fantastic sight and not one of us had a camera with us. What a waste.

Photos? errrm I have 3 still and 4 video cameras and i have very few photos of the "Squadron" perhaps I should charge a battery up and take a few shots.

So far I have an AXN (ofcourse), a Bixler, a Skyfun, a Radjet 800, a Decathlon, a Grasshopper (Green), a Grasshopper (Blue), a Sky Surfjet, a P51 and a Swift.

They are built and still boxed another Bixler, another Skyfun, a Canadaire, A Raphael EFD, a HK UAV, a Liberty Belle, a Phoenix 2000, a Minimoa, An FMS Large T28 Trojan, an FMS small T28 Trojan, an HK T28 Trojan, an I-Can-Fly, and 2 surprises which are still sealed in their boxes and I've completely forgotten what they are. I can search my invoices but I'm leaving them as a surprise.

I was a bit out with my numbers. I must have been working on my Wife numbers. Obviously less than the true numbers. Oh yes, I have a scratch built UAV which has all the parts ready but I have to puit it together and a Flying wing I picked up on Ebay last week. I bought and paid for it but it can't be sent Aussie post because it's too big. It seems Hobbyking can send 1.5 meter long boxes via post but us nobodies can't. It looks like it's going to be a cut and rejoin job.

I've invested a large amount in parts for spares and also for my flying mates. There's nothing worse than breaking a clevis at the field and not having one on hand so I bought masses of bits and pieces from motors, ESCs to pushrods. There are boxes and boxes of stuff. Far too much to take to the field every fly day but luckily my home is only 1k away.

We're all in to foam cutting at the moment. Again I have everything I need but no time to put it together. We, by the way are 6 old farts who don't like committees and the formalities associated with them but simply like having fun and a good time having a chat and flying our foamies. We decided there would be no fuel planes and we would fly at a small farm, thereby avoiding those high insurance costs.

Anyway, that's enough for now. I have work to do. bye for now.
