Technical question but I don't know where else to put it.
What do you use for an adapter/input device and software for your PC spectrum analyzer? I was a radar/microwave tech in the US Air Force and various contractors for many years. We had to use big boat anchor HP Spectrum Analyzers because of calibration requirements. Using a PC for personal use would be better than an expensive 20 kilo analyzer. It would be nice to have a spec-an on the bench for aligning local oscillators, transmitters and a lot of other things but I can't bring myself to spend the sort of money they want for even a reconditioned unit for personal use. I've seen a bunch of different USB adapters on the web and in Microwave Journal but I've never had any experience with any of them so I don't know what would be worth while. I would like to be able to have enough band width to go from 500 Khz for working with old tube radios up to 3 to 5 Ghz for these RC radios and FPV transmitters.
Suggestions?
