Teensy 3.0

This is NOT another Arduino package but a rather impressive 48 MHz, 32-bit ARM computer, with 10 PWM outputs (think servos), I2C capability, 16-bit A/D, etc. Methinks that Teensy 3.0 is a *natural* for DIY RC on-board data-collection, autopiloting, and Return To Launch failsafe systems.

Earlier Teensy boards used AVR chips, and, with the USB interface, were programmable using Arduino IDE, a rather pain-free interface for the inexperienced user. Teensy 3.0, although based on an ARM chip, arranges to use a modified Arduino IDE, which should make this device a quick-start for AVR users. If you know Arduino at all, the much smarter Teensy 3.0 should be a big, easy, and affordable step up in power.

Arduino libraries in general will not work with Teensy 3.0. However, such a large base of open-source code should make this a fun area for tinkerers, at least with my primitive level of experience.

Altimeters, GPS, temperature sensing, and servo control all are a snap with Arduino, of course. I'll be interested to see what can be done with this new device.

If anyone asks, I'll be out by the mailbox waiting for my new Teensy 3.0 to arrive...

The ARM processor interest is starting to snowball. I had not realized that an ARM-based Arduino is on the way, called the "Due" ("two").

Got a Teensy 3.0 going this morning. It uses the modified Arduino IDE called "Teensyduino" for loading code.

Hi... a lack of scalable power with the arduino is what's kept me away from it to-date.

The Teensy 3.0 DOES sound good... do you have a real-world feel for it yet, as far as how much additional grunt it gives over the fastest arduino to-date?
