Please help me setup my Turnigy 9x RF9X V2

Postby onesurf88 » Tue Nov 06, 2012 1:30 pm

Hi all,

I am back to the RC world after my last Hornet in 1984. Just bought an AXN Floater + Turnigy 9x. Trouble is I am lost..... sad to say that, didn't know its so complicating now....comparing to 1984.

Can someone be kind enough to guide me through setting up the Turnigy 9x(throttle on the left side)? I basically bought an AXN Floater (PNF) version. I saw Bruce's video clips and its wonderful, but sadly it doesn't show how to setup the TX.

I managed to bind the TX and RX and servos are working but the throttle (motor) is not running. So i guess its setting problem. I have not done anything on the TX at all other than binding.

Please show me a video of it or provide me a detailed steps to get it working....

My email is onesurf88@yahoo.com

Really appreciate the help......

Make sure you have the electronic speed controller plugged into channel 3 not channel 8.

You also may be required to "kick start" the ESC's program.
Remove prop from motor, Tx on then set throttle to maximum position, connect power to the ESC, wait 2-3 secs then move throttle to lowest setting.
Most (or all) ESC's have music tones to indicate what they are doing or modes that they are in, if you do not hear anything when connecting power there is a problem with power connection or with the ESC itself.
You said you purchased the AXN PNF version, do not be surprised if the ESC is DOA (dead on arrival).
Also recheck all solder joints.

Hi guys, thanks so much for the great help. Didn't know that's the problem.

In other words, the TX dun have to be setup at all. By default, plug the ESC into channel 3 will do the trick? Oh...why didn't the mfr state this simple step? Or perhaps all of you knew it except me. That's lame on me... :D

But now i have a even bigger problem. My order to HK was "Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 2) (v2 Firmware)" but the TX came as Mode 1.

The screen showing as Mode 1. ( as shown in picture) So now my supposing throttle is not working but the other becomes my throttle.

Question now is what can i do? Can i reprogram it somehow?

sorry about the earlier photo. Just realized that it was cropped off.

This picture shows the Mode 1 and the throttle on the left.

Stick mode select, in system setting allows you to do this mode selection
Download a copy of the manual pages 11 -14 tell you what to do

Hey thanks alot. i found the page under stick mode but no changes saved after i exit the system. Still showing Mode 1.

Right after I selected mode 2, i short pressed menu and then came "THRO REVERSE?" So i short pressed menu again and then pressed exit. There, lcd still showing mode 1.

Almost there already, please advise again......

I could be wrong, but, "THRO REVERSE" is an extra option when changing stick modes, so try the process again but this time short press "menu" to save your selection then keep pressing "exit" until you have returned to the main screen.

That is a well known typo (MODE 1), HK and or the manufacture have no interest in fixing it. There should be a "L" on the end to make it say "MODEL 1" I am very surprised that no one here has said somthing, I thought the people in this forum were 9X crazy/junkies  .
