Fr Sky Hack module connections to Graupner MC 24

Postby crash » Thu Jul 01, 2010 9:28 am

Hi Bruce and everyone,

I have purchased the FR Sky hack module and would like to install thi sin my Graupner MC 24.

I have three wires on the hack module to connect. A PPM wire, a ground and a +ve wire.

The Mc 24 has a module there are 4 wires in this so I gather three are as above and one other?

My question is where should I solder in the wires? The module being the same as any JR module the hook up should be fairly standard.

do I break into the wires to the module base and solder in?

How can I do it so if I chose to go back to 36 Meg I still can.

Can I make it switchable inside the Transmitter maybe?

Let me know if you need an inside transmitter shot.

Information and suggestions please.

Best wishes

Chris :-)

Yes pictures from inside the radio would help. is this the European version of a JR radio?

Keeping a close eye on this thread in case I wish to covert my MC24 to FrSky with the DIY hack module. Hopefully a telemetry version if they bring one out.

I'd like to be able to switch between 36Mhz and 2.4Ghz as well. ACT have developed a switchable system: http://www.acteurope.de/html/switch_it1.html

Something like this would be good. I'm not an electronics wiz, so a simple diagram and some instructions would be great if possible.

Hi Bruce,

Ok here we go with some pictures.

Number one is the Graupner MC 24 front view.
Number two is an inside sot over view with teh back cover removed.
Number three shows the module in place
Number four shows where the modules normally sits and with the module removed you can see teh base with teh five pins sticking out for tne module connection.
I guess the easy way would be to hook into th emodule pins, but I would prever to be able to switch between module 36 meg and the FRSky Hack module.

What do you think?

Cheers
Chris

I forgot to confirm with you this is the MC 24 which is a 12 channel JR / Graupner (German) Eupoean unit so all Jr rx's and modules work with this system.

That looks like a standard JR module -- if it is, fitting a DIY module will be trivial.

I'll do up some basic instructions over the weekend for you.

Many thanks Bruce.

If I am right, I should be able to use a breakout plug and lead set. If I feed off the the plug on the module this could then go to a switch and be changed between the FRSky hack module and the JR Module.

If so I will need to source a plug male and female to suit and a suitable switch, hook up and away we go with a straight plug and play.

I await your thoughts

Cheers

Hi Chris,
Have a look here.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265086
It works with FlyDream. The FrSky hack will be just as easy.

Huton
