esc 25 30 ss series hobbyking with AXN Floater Jet

Postby mazepilot » Sun Dec 22, 2013 10:27 pm

hi ...... I'm using 25-30a esc HobbyKing SS series with the axn floater jet and after 3 minutes of flight the engine stops responding.
I move the throttle to maximum and then to minimum and motor back to work with successive and repeated stops. The settings are as advised by Bruce here at rc model reviews.
I installed gold contacts between the esc and motor, thinking there is problem with the welds but the problem continues. the ailerons, rudder and elevator always work well, just the throttle have the problem.
I'm newbie on this and I ask for your help.

Is the esc programmed for the lipo option?
If not it may be cutting early because it thinks it's running on nickel cells, try this programming step.

If that isn't the problem I recommend this speed controller it's much better:

And get a programming card for it,that will make things a lot easier

The simple series esc's are more than good enough for a AXN. I have several of them in various planes

A few questions,
do you have a voltage alarm/beeper ? Buy one.
what batt are you using ?
does the motor allways work on a freshly charged batt ??

You might be simply hitting the low voltage motor cuttoff point on the esc .

So so, there are not arguments against facts, today flew with the esc that came from the factory and there have been no failures so the esc 30A ss 25 series is the problem. Now my doubt is whether there will have been damaged or other problem.
Thanks for your help.

PS: How can I test the esc? He is with the default setup.
