JR x9303 module conversion?

Postby parkfly27 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 6:02 pm

OK, i know it would be simple to convert a XP9303 to 2.4 with any chinese module, but here's a question: can i convert the X9303 (which is intended for DSM2 2.4 from the factory) with a chinese 2.4 module and still keep the model-match functionality? is there anything different between a model-match reciever and a chinese Rx like a corona 2.4?
Thanks in advance!

You can't do model-match with a 3rd-party module/DIY kit I'm afraid. Even the 9303 radios converted to DSM2 with a Spektrum module won't do model-match.

Thanks for the reply. Have you tried personally? my other question is... can i convert a radio intended for DSM, but use a third party module? will the new receivers not be compatible with model-match, and the tx wont recognize the receiver and refuse to transmit on that model memory? I am asking this because i want to upgrade to a better radio, and i found good deals on a DSM X9303 and the module-based 72MHz XP9303, but i'm not sure which one to get.

I believe (but can't confirm because I don't have a DSMX9303 in front of me) that there is a PPM signal inside the DSMX9303. In effect, this radio is a regular 9303 with a Spektrum DIY kit inside.

I know the DX7 has been converted to FrSky DIY before so I'm picking the DSX9303 would be a simple mod to a 3rd-party 2.4 system.
