A wave of fake Spektrum products about to appear?

Problems, experiences or just something to say about RC gear? Say it here.

I'll be waiting to see whether HK pulls off the FASST clone. It's nowhere near as easy as the DSM2 clone.

To be honest, I'll believe it when I see it.

>other receiver "arriving soon" that will be both DSM2 and FASST compatible

I cannot wait. It is the best news I was waiting. Now, Futaba price barrier will be demolished.

I'm like a lot of people out there, turning over $60-$90 or even more for a receiver, I wonder how can I afford that new plane or the parts? Swap receivers from plane to plane?

When I flew on 72Mhz, and still do, just not buying anymore 72Mhz receivers, I could pick up one for $15-$20 or less, brand name a little more, but that way I wouldn't have to worry about swapping them from one plane to another.

I fly smaller park flyers, the largest plane I have is about 3 pounds, I'm working my way up to larger crafts but, I'm making the switch to 2.4Ghz for the simplicity of "just go fly", not worrying about channels and who is on what.

I welcome the competition, as long as the receivers work, the price for now for is unjustifiable in my book for the real brand names, they cost as much as some of the planes I buy!

Sometimes I wonder if this is another blue ray or HD DVD deal, if one 2.4Ghz technology will win out over the rest and be the staple for the rest to follow, it was so much easier with 72, 35, 75, etc frequencies.

A good news, but HK is unable to stock these clone receivers.

If they're working for you then I see no problem.

Seano here again, I have had a month or two to test out the new HK DSM2 Compatible receivers and I can honestly say I have not had a single problem. I've been using the black receiver in a Mini Swift and have flown both park and slope. I've flown the plane as far as I dare almost out of site and the receivers have been rock solid, I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone contemplating a cheap alternative. I've bought another 5 Orange Receivers and will be using in all my slope planes. I've also flown in a 2 metre Glider with no problem. I have bound the black receivers with a DX5e as well as aDX6i. From my point of view its fair to say Spektrum have definately shot themselves in the foot by overpricing their receivers!!!!

You're dead right about Spektrum shooting themselves in the foot -- and, instead of focusing on improving their product (thus staying one jump ahead of the counterfeiters and "compatibles") they're simply sitting on their laurels when it comes to the Spektrum RF link.

I guess the market will ultimately determine the validity of their strategy. It will be interesting to watch.
