Turnigy x9 Receiver Hack

If you've been building electronic bits or modifying stuff you've bought then tell us all about it here. A good place to discuss the installation of 2.4GHz DIY modules too.

Hi,
today i recieved my Turnigy 9x Radio vom HK.
I wont to use it with my quadrocopter, but i need a PPM Signal out of the receiver.

Did you know how can i get the signal from the receiver?

No, to the best of my knowledge there is no PPM stream accessible on the 9X receiver. This is true of most 2.4GHz receivers because they don't have a PPM stream as such.

At the transmitter end, each channel's position is sent as a binary number that is then received and turned into an individual pulse-width for the associated channel. There is no need to have all the channel pulses strung together into a PPM stream -- so it doesn't happen.

The only way to get a PPM stream is to add a small circuit that takes each pulse from the receiver and then creates an output that is in PPM format. This is fairly simple to do but will add extra latency.

The only way I know of is to use a small hardware board which creates the PPM stream out of the single servo signals.
This should work with any receiver.
