How to update FrSky Receivers?

Problems, experiences or just something to say about RC gear? Say it here.

Hi, no nothing changed on my gear. Also the HS mode change works fine too (blinks AFTER you remove your finger).
My first thought is that you somehow mixed the FW versions you loaded...

well, i went ahead and reflashed both again. this time everything worked as normal..

maybe i mixed the software, but i think something else might have happened, cause transfer to Rx was MUCH faster now (as fast as to Tx) while previous time it was at least 3 times slower..

but now it works!!

would you please make a list of hardware you use to make this V2upgrade .
if you can add pictures of it, it would be really nice.

I used the excellent guide from the people in this thread. (i borrowed a MAX232 based 3.3V TTL converter from a friend). Other then that, the hardest part is to solder onto the very small pads on the circuitboard. I found that using some wire that was pretty thin and fairly soft helped with that.

thanx to you i did my RX upgrade using this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Serial-Converter-US ... 4151d82e65
and TX using the supplied cable.
all went ok ,need a 12W soldering iron with sharp tip to solder those 3 cables inside RX ( see picture above page 2 )

seems you can use this cheap cable to upload RX V2

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... Win2000/XP

wiring:

white:Txd
red:Rxd
black GRND

USB Txd wired to receiver Rxd, USB Rxd wired to receiver Txd, and grnd to grnd ;)

cheers

FrSky appears to have a little board just for RX upgrades. I was wondering if anyone knows where you can buy it (http://www.frsky-rc.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=49).

Awesome. Just ordered one. Maybe it'll arrive before I'm able to find a supplier of the official FrSky one (http://www.frsky-rc.com/ShowProducts.asp?id=49)

I had some troubles updating when using win7 x64. This was true for both module and the receivers, but when I tried the same setup on a 32 bit (win7 x86) machine everything went smoothly. So if you have troubles and use 64 bit OS, try on a 32 bit windows instead.
